FWIW, the disk(flat) has a built in variable 'feet per minute' feature without changing rotational speed. Faster at the periphery and slower at the center.

Help..,i im writing this in the only magna info i can find..i have a 6 inch magna belt sander (shopsmith right?) i rescued it,cleaned it,rewired the switch.etc etc..works great..it goes to 45° ..what model is this? Are shopsmith manuals compatible? Im guessing the sanding belts are..ANY information ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY APPRECIATED..im chomping at the bit to use it..(its all there but belts) i want to get an owners manual but the RIGHT ONE....thank you

Also...it is mounted next to a power king jointer..on a steel table with a light between them..2 motors are mounted underneath.1/3 and maybe a 1/4 HP..craftsman..the set up looks home shop assembled,but well done...the drive belts look good so far..but would like to know where to get one if i need one..THANK YOU.again

Any differences between 'current' model and 'original' Magna model are minimal.

You're in luck. There's a manual you can download at VintageMachinery.org.

It sounds like yours has been configured with a pulley for a belt drive to a standard motor, which is exactly what Shopsmith does on it's "Power Stands". Here's a page with belt-drive instructions:
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/productmanuals.htm. There's a table giving recommended pulley sizes in both the Mounting Base and the Pulley Guard manuals (under "Other Information Manuals"). Note that those tables assume a 1750 RPM motor.
