Two(three) step process

Click attach....

Browse to select pix.

THEN click "Attach"(a different one) May need to scroll down.

IF you want to control where it appears, position cursor, then click on place inline.

Ok so here is the control sheave
and here is the pieces and parts that I found in the bottom. Also a few ball bearings.
The quadrant "arm" section with the teeth was still attached to the speed control bracket. As said before I don't think it is bent in any way.


and this is the part on Ebay I was hoping I could buy as opposed to buying the entire control sheave assembly.

Its about half the money. But no cheap repair is a good repair if it isn't and adequate repair. an extra $25.00 is nothing if it is the right or best way to do it. I just don't want to spend money I don't need to spend. So i really do appreciate the input and help thus far.

The control sheave looks salvageable(cannot tell for sure from the pix if the new bearing will seat properly).

It appears the wire loop fell off a long time ago.

The button (square in your greenie case) was rotating on the porkchop and just chewed it up eventually. Notice the color of the 'button'. Blue/black ain't 'normal'.

That seller is reliable.

I would get the button etc. from him. And the porkchop from SS. And the screw etc. from Bill Mayo.

If staking is not possible, there is blue(or red) loctite!

Thanks for the guidance JPG. As we speak I have stripped the head stock down and am sanding it a the old paint off and cleaning up all the nicks and burrs and it will get a coat of self etching primer, a few coats of paint, a few coats of clear and a wax and buff. When i put it back together I want it to shine like a new penny.

'Peening', 'Dinging' ... After inserting the bearing in the 'bore', 'crimp' the end over the bearing to retain it.

The pics were probably to big. There is a 2MB limit on any attachment. The system tells you if the attachment is too big but it is not noticeable unless you are actually looking for it. The system comes back with a line at the top of the page that tells you your attachment was too big. However it is in the same font and color as everything else. So, again if you are not looking for it you won't notice it.

It would be nice if admin could change it to say a larger bold red font.

Peening is done with a round object(ball peen hammer).

Staking is done with narrow blunt object(dull chisel(sorta)). At least in this context.

Crimping is usually done with a crimping tool and usually to thin material like sheet metal.
