Whatever you say, John. I should know better than to have a differing opinion.

   What are you talking about? Did I say your opinion was wrong? An opinion is an opinion. It is not necessarily wrong it is YOUR opinion and is valid. If you only want to buy one high end expensive tool like the SS so be it.

I don't think the quality/price of the tools we all buy has anything to do with whether we own a SS. That was my only point. :)

This makes the point that the commercial on TV shows "stupid rich"!

As my Dad always said they have more money than brains. I look at the Woodpecker tools and smile. Are they nuts????????????????

I have no idea what you mean. please explain what "stupid rich" is.

I spent 24 years on active duty in the USAF. In 1972 I made about $350 a month. Anyone remember the Carter years? The big three news programs had a misery index number every night on their broadcast. Reagan came in and doubled our pay because he thought we should be payed to defend our country and keep all of our citizens safe.

After I retired from active duty I worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) for 4 years. When I quit I was making $8.10 (2001). Then I worked for two Air Force contractors for a total of about 2 years. I got hired on as a civil service worker in 2002 and overhauled aircraft generators and at the end I was re-writhin AF technical orders. I retired from civil service in 2012. I have 40 years of federal service. My wife worked for the Army repairing tank laser sights and radios. She has 35 years of DOD service. Between us we have 75 years of DOD service supporting your freedom and your right to say too many people are rich.

We are retired and have more money than we need. So if you have brains you can figure out how to have enough money to do what you want.

And I have enough money to buy one of those high priced tools if I want. The American dream if you follow it. :D

Sometimes I think we are paying for all the detection technologies that now have to be present in every shipping depot in the country to detect the bad stuff that might be in packages, that at one time in our history would never have occurred.

The government recently admitted their shipment of anthrax spores shipped through various carriers over the last decade has doubled over the numbers previously reported, and may rise again. And those folks are not even the ones we were supposed to worry about. Go figure.

Shipping is definitely a higher cost whether things are being shipped to us, or into Shopsmith, to ship out to us, and the checking of packages everywhere has to factor into those costs at some level.

Go to staples and find out how much it costs to ship a small part via ups.

Whatever you say jsburger.

I really don't give a hoot any longer, what you say. If I could block you, I would. But that functionality is not available (as far as I know) on this website.

I added you to my "foe" list, a lot of good that did, I still see your aggressive personality! Yay!!!

Onward and upward. I called SS, to change my order (adding, the four bearings, for my integral Mark V band saw) and the woman said that she had to do something and that she would call me back. This was no later than 1 pm.

Well guess what, she never called me back!

So, will I get the additional items? Who the heck knows?

OBTW, has anyone ever tracked their items during its travel to you? It is almost like "where is Waldo" following any items, or in many cases "bread crumbs" dancing here or there. Who the heck, came up with these direct route ideas?

Y'all need to reflect upon the path this thread has taken. Opinions are fine, but, they need to be grounded in something tangible, not just an I feel thing.

Also thicker skin is needed to prevent irrational actions.

I do not see any personal attack by one who is being reacted to. He tries to understand why/where some 'opinions' are what they are. If one cannot explain their opinions but resort to some of the actions displayed in this thread then one has to assume their opinion is ill founded and not only not able to be explained, but requires a diversion to deflect exposure.

There is nothing wrong with an ill informed opinion, but when better understanding is gained, that opinion must change, not defended to a fault.

It is through discussions between disagreeing persons that common understanding is achieved. That does not mean common agreement.

Enough of this!(for now :D )

Most of the internet tool stores charge freight staggered for total order amount except for really heavy items etc. Go to Rockler and add a small widget to your shopping cart and start the buying process till you get to shipping then go back and add a small item that costs $50 more.
