Typical except for one 'detail'. The porkchop gear wear is centered. The legs that support the pivot are not splayed. If the porkchop gear teeth do not jam in the worm gear teeth, not much is needed to 'repair'.

Now the worm gear being 'bent' is I assume at the straight shaft knob end. If so, do be careful when 'straightening it so as to not cause the worm gear end to become eccentric to the part of the shaft that rides in the bushing.

To prevent future splaying, the tension pin can be replaced with a long 10-32(3/16") screw that has an unthreaded shaft directly below the head. A lock nut and washers completes the hardware. A washer is used on each end between the screw head and nut. The nut is tightened until the play is removed, and the porkchop still moves freely. The screw head goes on the end facing the control sheave.

That is the 'Bill Mayo' fix that he sells on E-Bay. He is not currently selling them today, but hopefully when he returns home.
