Pardon my insistence, but several 'out of USA' forum members have experienced otherwise(notably Canada, UK, Croatia and Australia).

Is this something 'new'.

There were a few years where we did not ship internationally, but we have been doing so again since late 2012.

Check into DHL, especially if you can get someone in the US to ship it to you rather than rely on a company.

Shipping via USPS is also a relatively simple process unless you are in a very remote area of Ecuador.

One of the more important requirements to get things to get TO you is by making certain that NOTHING in that package can be remotely considered a weapon, explosive or toxic.

A good friend's parents moved there for a number of years. She would send a well packed box a couple times each year. I remember she would send it to a US controlled destination (it may have been a US owned company and I vaguely remember banking or investing) where her parents would pick it up.

The packages were more expensive, but I don't remember it being that hugely expensive and did take some time to clear through customs but each one arrived intact (though I think a few were opened by customs). She would send Christmas presents in October and they always arrived before Christmas.

Anyway it may be easier than you are presuming to get packages sent to you from the US.

Interesting. I will look into that. Thank you for the information. So far I have heard from only a few people, that the smallest package cost about $45 and that customs charges about 30% value. We will see. I have enjoyed nearly instant receipt of items in the US and it will be a real adjustment.
