I almost forgot, but there is another gismo.
Along the back wall are two grooves and little blocks that move back-and-forth as well as up-and-down with linkages that connect to a shaft (not shown). The blocks and grooves are tapered (dove-tailed) so they don't fall out.

I'm amazed at your ingenuity! Tell me, do you use your Shopsmith to make any of the parts for La Machine?

When I started this project several years ago I had the Shopsmith and a small drill press. Since then I have added a small table saw and the Shopsmith is mostly used for the jigsaw, disk sander, lathe and a few other operations.
I have all the accessories that the original Shopsmith offered plus lots of spare parts. I described how this came about and details in another section of this forum.
