Re: Stand motor clicking

Update:
I took the motor apart again and decided to try and fix it one more time. So in this attempt I tried to slide the fan down the shaft using a board and some clamps so I could distribute the pressure better. After a good tug I didn't really see it slide any, maybe a tiny amount that I would need a caliper to measure.
Put the thing back together and gave it a whirl. Spun smooth as ice. Turned it on, and it is now running better than when I received it. Can barely tell its running.
So the original story with the motorized stand was I picked it up from craigslist for $100 with the jointer. The seller thought it was a stand alone jointer made by shopsmith. I was in the market for the jointer and was slightly unfamiliar with Shopsmith at the time, but saw how it came off the stand while looking at it. $100 bucks later I had a stand alone jointer, but never really figured out how the pulley ratios would work for other tools (didn't really think about it until I got a bandsaw and saw how much I used it compared to the jointer.
Now I have the bandsaw mounted on the smooth running motor. I am going to pick up the pulley's tomorrow (already got the new belt) and I am so very excited that I now have my SS 500 drill press, the bandsaw on a stand, my pro planer, and can leave my scroll saw on the SS 520. I pretty much have all I need to start my decent into insanity as mentioned on the wood working topic area.
On a side note: I originally got the SS to save space and have all the tools I needed in a small area. As I wrote that last paragraph, I think my SS turned into a wannabe full sized shop. And I still am looking on craigslist for a great deal on a 500 or 510 for a dedicated shorty sanding station. My name is Brian and I am a Shopsmith-a-holic, but at least now I have my stand-alone bandsaw!
