BD, I agree with your statement. 1 guy there last night just retired and is thinking about getting into wood working and going that route to see if he likes it b4 out fitting a shop and get guidance on techniques from the shop monitor which had a cabinet shop b4 he semi retired to be there. 2 other guys had home shops and down sized to different residence and no room for a shop.
I am only doing it as a stop gap to have some wood working facility near moms, I would not spend that kind of money for a long term.
We might be moving mom to a facility/ assisted living near my sisters, an option we are looking at, but I am not in favor of at this time, too much "'change"' for her, which is stress on her.

Well, I'll be 74 one day longer than I was 73 and 72 and....etc.
I'll probably spend the day (like most others) wondering what day it is. And still be in the shop.
The Shopsmith doesn't care about the day, though.

It appears it has been this way since 1997 at least.

That matches me. My birthday is 5 July and I get my check on the second Wednesday. Actually it is always in the account on Tuesday.

This also matches what I see and what my brother says he has happen. Then again it is from the ssa.gov site so it should. If you started collecting before the 1997 time frame I guess it could be different.

It's supposed to be a nice day so I may spend at least part of it out hugging horses.

Diana and I both get our deposits on the second Wednesday... Her B-date is 12-2 and mine is 4-5.

Years ago I used to substitute on rural postal routes. Back then I think all checks went out on the same day by mail. I always hated check day as all of the old patrons were standing out at the mail box waiting for the mailman. If you had a big mail load and were even 15 minutes later than normal some of them got really rude and pi$$ed...

as a matter of fact no :p I signed up for that pay to use wood shop near moms and had to do a mandatory safety class from 6-9 tonight. So just a bit burned out, just could not to it my way, sorta speak, we made a wall plack to put our names and pic on using most of the tools, I felt like I was in 7th grade shop class making a napkin holder for a picnic table with the wood top to keep them from blowing away.
Nice TS 2 saws stops, and a powermatic most else was Grizzly stuff, wet wood or a nail will do it to a saw stop. and he did it himself, recutting a draw box with a nail in it shut down the saw stop.

They have many tiered memberships, I will just post there web site, I bought 10 hour punch card for the router cabinet, and then see. For that I could rent a U haul and bring some stuff from home to moms, take the greenie, and jointer SPT and BS, roughing it though with that.

I'll be very interested to hear how you like the rent-a-shop place. Intriguing. My machinery/tooling investments to date would pay the dues there for about five years. But then again, I bought it all pretty cheap, and could turn it back into cash if I wanted to. And isn't equipping the shop half the fun? (Or maybe 90% of the fun, for certain of our upstanding members. :D )
Are you referencing the members that can still stand? :D
