It was a thought. I'm getting frustrated with the overheating. The increaser only requires 5000 rpm input for 10000 rpm out. I can run my PP for 14 minutes routing then and not overheat...

Unless Shopsmith tells you that the PowerPro is expected to overheat in that short period of time, I would not compensate just to be able to route. If they tell you that overheating in that short period of time is to be expected, then I can scratch the PowerPro from my want list.

If I was to buy a PowerPro, shaping and routing would be its most frequent task.

I would be very frustrated with that situation also. I wonder if the sensor that detects the heat is bad? That is a question for the MS though, just a thought.

My thought is, should the MS advise that or something similar? Then there is my friend, good thoughts but what ever works. That HS design was for a conventional motor not the Upgrade to a Power Pro. ;)

Performance Warranty, heck it shuts down when routeing in 15ish minutes, that is not Performance in my book. :eek:

Exactly why I'm not modifying my under warranty tool to get it to work. That is the engineers' job. Having to get a brand new tool to "work" isn't fun. It should be capable. NO Where in the literature have I found anything on routing times/overheating. Apparently testing wasn't done for routing then. Not even a mention in the PP error code section.
I'm adding this issue to the regret bucket. The wife isn't happy either.

I would not be happy either, I run my Bosh Router for that amount on time in a cabinet/table set up with dust collection/air flow and have no issues. I find this, if normal, unacceptable. Unless as I posted earlier, the sensor is malfunctioning, and giving you premature shut down, but that is a MS thing or send back. :eek: I am sure with persistence with the MS on your part, you will get some sort of satisfaction.
They monitor this Forum with like a babies radio/voice,noise monitor to mom and dad, they dont want any bad press, especially with there knew 30 minute PP Promo web video coming out. ;)

I certainly understand the frustration but please don't go into the regret mode yet. Push Shopsmith for a "solution" along with an explanation for why it overheats. Not words from the Customer Service level. This is an engineering matter. Then, if there is no solution, it is time to go into regret mode and that just might be time to talk about performance warranty.

I have not purchased a PowerPro so I do not know how the warranty reads. You should!
