I am wondering how Dennis put such a beautiful cut in the mitre gauge. It seems that if the table is tilted to a 45º angle, that the blade may cut into the mitre gauge that way, especially if the blade is set high. Am I close? This may be something to be careful of when setting up the cut.

Roll-eyes emoticon notwithstanding, the cut
really was already in the miter gauge when I bought the 520 used. I've always assumed that the gauge was used in the left-side miter slot with the table tilted 45 degrees right. But I've never bothered to test that theory.
The nylon glide bolt was sliced in two when I got the machine. I extracted it, and ordered another from the mothership. The new one has always fit just a bit loose.
