The flatness of the table is measured from the front left corner to the right rear corner and the front right corner to the left rear corner. AND, the trunion bolts ALL have to be torqued to the same tightness. She was very helpful and I'll ck it out.
Just looked over the table mounting procedures in my BS manual (Mark V 500 mid 80's unit) doesn't mention a word about torque specs, this the only mention of trunions

quote:

13. Insert a thin shim washer (48) between the
table (87) and each trunnion bracket.
14. Attach the table to the Bandsaw with bolts
(35) and thick washers (34), as shown in
Fig. 15. Finger tighten only.

end quote

nothing about torquing anything, what did she say they need to TQ too, just curious

She didn't have any torque specs only that the way it is to be measured diagonally and that the trunion bolts all had to be of equal tightness. To me, neither one of these makes any sense. But, I'll try it and see if it does anything. I highly doubt it though.

Out of cuiosity, is the dip apparent when the table is un mounted?
If it is, I'd request a different one.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them. :)

I surmise she is merely repeating what she has been told(maybe even reading it! ;) ).

Well as I thought measuring diagonally produced the same results and letting it sit with the grunion bolts released did nothing to bring the table flat. I did notice whe I released tension on the knurled knob for the split in the table I can make the two sides of the split move up and down. Not sure that is significant but I was surprised it was so easy to move. I

That be the reason for the knob and bolt. ;)

Well I've spent over a week waiting on SS to rectify this situation!! First they wanted me to measure diagonally and then let the table "rest" with the bolts not tightened. Called them and told them it wasn't working and they said they'd get back to me after talking to the "engineer". About what I have no clue. Supposed to call me and let me know what to do and nothing has happened in the form of a call. Just spent 13 minutes on hold listening to the awful music and now I'm frustrated. I won't be buying anything from them again.

How much you want for your Shopsmith stuff. I might take it off your hands if the price is right.

13 minutes? Waiting for a person whose first language is american english?

Ye need to gain some patience!

This is not a fortune 500 firm that has a large CS staff.

Who have thee been calling recently?

Seems to me that a long wait is all too common nowadays.

And they do have other folks to accommodate!
