Since I do not use my Jig Saw much I drain the oil between uses. I use the Scroll Saw more. Using RTV for the gasket could block the vent hole if you are not extremely careful. Don't get me wrong, the Jig Saw is still a great tool. Just one example, you can remove the arm and use it as a sabre saw for larger projects. You can't do that with the Scroll Saw.
