neat sounding project , will you be using concrete or bock on the ground ? and how deep re foundations in the north ? , here we have to go 3 ft deep with a footer for the frost line .

I would love to build permanent smoker for meat , start out with block then wrap in red brick and then go to wood about 2 ft above ground to keep the wood out of the snow and bugs .

This barbecue project is for storage only. We have portable barbecues that go inside for the winter, and charcoal can also be put inside -- until Spring, when there's no space inside the cabin for such things.
The storage cabinet will sit in an alcove next to a wall that I built many years ago of local rock found on site. (The hillside is a glacial moraine, full of rubble pushed up by a glacier a few million years ago, so there is plenty of rock around. One just has to dig a bit to find it.)
I'll just put more rocks on the ground to hold up the storage locker. Frost is not an issue in the high Sierras, at least not for this kind of work.

Here is a public share link for a segmented bowl model I just finished with Fusion 360. There is a great deal to learn in order to get up to speed but with each project comes increased proficiency. Having a complete 3D model and the ability to section view the parts, verify dimensions is a pretty powerful tool. I've done some basic segmented projects with Sketchup but never was able to pull off the patterns.

Anyhow here is the link. Planning on making this next month as schedule permits and will post a finished photo upon completion. For Safari users you will need another browser that supports WebGL since Safari doesn't

Very slick! I’ve been wanting to try modeling a segmented bowl in Fusion, but haven’t done it yet. BTW, your model displays and manipulates just fine in Safari on my iPad.

Hadn't tried on the tablet only my computer. Practice makes perfect and did another shaped bowl today in less than a quarter of the time it took to do the first one. The hardest part is working out the symmetry of the pattern. Instead of making an entire set of stacked rings just make a single section then execute a circular pattern for the section. Treat each layer as a component.

I’ve been trying to figure out how you’re planning to make the diagonal trapezoidal wedges for the sawtooth pattern in the real world. I couldn’t view the model in Firefix on my PC, so I’m posting images from my iPad here on the assumption that I wasn’t the only one.

So here’s my best guess how you would make the sawtooth segments:
1. Laminate light and dark boards, laying flat.
2. Square the lamination up, and then bevel-saw it cross-grain into trapezoids, at the desired sawtooth angle.
3. Flip the trapezoids onto a newly-sawn face, and saw at 90 degrees to trim them back into rectangular stock (now with diagonal stripes).
4. Cut wedges from the diagonal stock.
5. Glue up wedges and rings as usual.

Am I close?
