I'm probably like most who purchased the Shopsmith in the first place. A small woodworking area. I can only use 1/2 of a double-car garage to make sawdust. Of course, at the end of the day, I have to move (all power tools are on wheels) everything against the garage walls so that I can get the second car in the garage. It's a hassle sometimes, but, at least I have a clean area each day to complete whatever projects I happen to be working on at the time on the next day.

My shop is a separate building - 16 by 20 ft. That comes to 320 sq. ft. on the outside. With wall thickness, benches and storage the working area is a lot less. I've found the use has evolved to using one bench and about 120 sq.ft. of floor space for all operations. I stand on a rubber pad with the MKV off toward the center of the room, along with the DC3300. The MKV is rotated 90 degrees for SPT use. I'm glad I have both wall and ceiling electrical outlets.
Finding storage space for cut offs is my biggest shop problem.
I checked 300 in the poll.

My current work area is 1/2 of a 2 car garage. My Mark V (with Bandsaw, Beltsander SPTs and DC3300) shares space with a workbench, roll-away mechanics toolbox, Oxy-Acetalene welding tanks, an arc welder, 80 gallon tank air compressor, a sandcarving cabinet and a 100lb pressure pot. The MK-V is a perfect match for my limited work area.
ShopSmith MarkV-520 with Belt Sander, Jointer, Band Saw, Strip Sander, Scroll Saw and Biscuit Jointer SPTs and a DC-3300...

Sorry I couldn't cast my vote in the pole. You didn't have an appropriate size listed. I have an 8'x10' metal shed filled with stuff, including an 8'x10'metal shed (unassembled). That's it. No garage. No other out building but I do have a room in my house, central to everything, which contains a Mark V 510 with bandsaw and jointer (and a piano).
I've used my old table saw, which is way too small, and a vacuum in this room . It's cut some, vacuum some, cut some...you get the idea. I used my living room to assemble a 4'x8' trailer with 4' tongue because it started to rain(it folded up to get back out) . This room is a little bit smaller than that.
Ok, you guessed it. I'm not married (any more) but I got the house after the divorce:rolleyes: . I hope to be building a 12'x20' shop in the backyard if and when I get the materials - hence the Shopsmith.
Since I just got my 510, I'm looking forward to finding out just what it can do. With a router, table saw(no dado blades), Skill saw, jig saw and drill, I have made two bookcases, a full sized bed with drawers (20"x36") and a computer table. Oh what I hope to accomplish now!:D

Glad you joined us. Personally, I think that you should vote and use the 100' as your choice! Good luck with your woodworking and feel free to ask questions and brag about your "stuff"!

I have almost 1/3 of a 3 car garage. I say almost because the back area of my side has become a small storage area. I don't know how many square feet that equals and I'm too lazy to look it up right now.
When working, if weather permits, I wheel everything out into the driveway. LOML is very kind not to complain too loudly about the sawdust all over her truck. I hope to rearrange, build some decent cabinets and a workbench this summer. But we're leasing the house, so I can't do anything permanent.
