I use the "ShopSmith" skin and the last time I saw that pop-up was when I had to logon again. Which It seems I have to do about every two weeks or so.

All well and good but My computers are on 24/7 and I never close out Firefox. Even if I do and log in now with the SS skin the popup happens. This is the same problem we had a year or so ago and everyone was complaining about it. Apparently admin did something to fix it because the problem totally went away, NO POPUPS. Now it is back, at least for me.

I will try one of my other computers. Maybe somehow the forum cookies on my lap top got corrupted.

My computers are also on 24/7, but I never leave Firefox running. It takes only a second to close it and another second to open it when I need it. Leaving it running is leaving a trail open to the internet, and any site you visited since opening it can track you. Nobody needs that.

I seriously recommend closing all browsers when you finish browsing. As of yesterday, 598 days since last reboot.

I have ESET Internet Security paid that blocks malicious web sites among other things, Malwarebytes Premium paid that blocks all manner of stuff including trackers, Malwarebytes Firefox plugin that blocks trackers and other things and Firefox enhanced tracker protection is also turned on.

I have never had a problem. YMMV!

I'm running Linux. With Linux, there is almost never any reason to reboot. I keep my computers on uninterruptable power supplies, so about the only time I have to restart them is when the batteries in the UPS die.

A Mac should give similar performance because it runs Unix these days. Unless Apple has somehow mucked up Unix, it should work like Linux.

Windows has never seemed to get past rebooting for every update. I suspect that has to do with the Registry which acts like a virus that bogs down the entire system trying to tie all its parts together.

If you have a Mac, you can check uptime like Linux. Just pull up a terminal and type, "uptime".

If you have Windows 7, you can check it by pulling up the Task Manager and looking at the Performance tab.

If you are running Windows 8 or 10, you can't get accurate uptimes because Microsoft added something called "fast startup" to hide from the user the fact that it is slow. The only way to get accurate uptimes on 8 or 10 is to disable fast startup, but then you get to see how slow it really is.

I am running Linux too, Ubuntu 18.04 on the desk top 19.04 on the laptop, Occasionally it asks (politely ) for a reboot, if the kernel is gets an update, None of the Windoz, "I know you said later, but I'm impatient, so we are going to do it NOW.) Most of the time it just does updates, quickly and efficiently, in the background while I do other things.

I find that a bit strange. I run Linux Mint which is built from Linux Ubuntu, and in the years I've had it, it hasn't asked for a reboot yet. Maybe Mint doesn't bother to update the kernel as none of the Linux kernels have had security issues in the past, so putting in a newer one doesn't improve anything. Ubuntu must do things differently.

Well, as mysteriously as it appeared the pop up has completely disappeared. Now that I say that it will probably return. I did not do anything so who knose what triggered it.
