Uh... Just like anything else in the world someone is trying to sell. Price. In the case of a Shopsmith the more you got to go with it, the more it's worth. Plus, the three things that really matter. Condition, condition, condition. It matters to me personally because I'm interested in buying it.

The difference is that it affects the 'value'.

505 and 510 are the same except the 505 does not have the floating tables, connecting tubes or legs. By the way 505's were still made in 2006. I bought one with the date code 04-28-06.

caralocke,

When selling consider if you are going to try to sell all at once or are you willing to sell individual items separately, example the Bandsaw or Jointer. You can generally get more money selling the Mark V and major accessories separately. Some potential buyers do not need all the items or want to put as much money needed to buy a collection of tools at one time. Look at prices of Shopsmith items in your area but remember you are likely to find prices all over the place. Some sellers must think their tool has gold parts based on their asking price. Look for averages and remember the asking price someone has may not be what they actually end up selling it for. There is one overpriced, in my opinion, Shopsmith collection that has been for sale in my area for more than three years now. It doesn't have any pictures of the actual Shopsmith they are selling. Picture are very helpful for buyers to decide if the purchase is right for them and you will get less questions.

As to which Mark V you have check the sticker on the belt cover. It will have a date code and some say if it is a 505, 510 or 520 whereas others do not. The sticker shown in the picture below is a 50th anniversary Mark V but the sticker does not indicate it is a 520.
