How do you get on the Release channel?. I don't know, I have been there for years. I am sure somewhere there is a way to change your update channel. I know there is a beta channel also so you get beta updates when they are released.

You can always check if FF is up to date by clicking on Help and then About Firefox. It will say up to date or download the latest version.

And mine says 81.0 and mentions an update which I will turn loose after clearing all the stuff currently 'taking a break'.(MINIMIZED)

You don't have to turn the computer off. Just hit the update button. Everything else will be OK. The computer will not reboot.

Yes the update is 'qued', but does not take effect until a reboot so I am still at 81.0. I assume after reboot it will be 81.0.1

Indeed it DID!

Perhaps one day Microsoft will learn how to update on the run and not have to reboot. But, if they haven't learned by now, it isn't likely to ever happen.
Linux updates on the fly. If I install a new version of software, it is there right away. But, Linux isn't handicapped by a virus like registry. Linux runs like DOS. The software isn't virally attached to the operating system. It just sits beside it ready to run, and once shut down, it no longer bogs down the operating system through a registry.

I see a little confusion here. Firefox needed a restart not a reboot. You get the download, you restart firefox and it installs and you are up and running, without ever having to do a reboot.

Yes I WAS confused. I was equating restart the program with restart the computer(reboot).

My new thing learned fer today!!!
