Update as of today. I was able to acquire a Sanding Disc for the ER. Thank you Kevin Self. It came with what looks like very old paper glued onto it. I had to use a heat gun to soften the glue enough to peel off the paper then scrape the remaining glue off. Then I sanded, and sanded, and sanded some more to get it looking like a new one. I am very happy with the way it looks and now it will work perfectly for me. I was also able to get the motor all cleaned up, Primed and Painted. Then I installed it and actually got the machine Running for the first time in aver two years. I was very happy that morning when it fired up.This is looking great and I know that my dad would be very proud of me and it. Keep watching for more updates. Coming up will be the supports for the way tubes and the actual cabinet that my dad had made back in 1950 to hold this machine. I will be doing a total resto/remodel of it.

Update today, I was able to mill the Oak for the table/cart. It is Crimson Oak from a tree that was given to me by my son. I had it milled into boards two years ago and I ended up with 350 BdFt. Great score. Anyways It's all milled to thickness and width and now glued up. Won't be able to work on it again until Sunday or Tuesday. I will keep up informed about the tabletop. Today I also stripped , primed , sanded and painted the way supports from my dads machine and another carriage. This is coming out very nice if I say so myself.

Hey again Guys, Well yesterday I did have a chance to work on the table top. It is now all set to install onto my dads cart. It had been ran through my 24" drum sander with 80 grit and 120 grit paper init, then sanded with 150. I then applied 2 coats of semi gloss poly and sanded it again with 220 and applied 2 more coats. Then sanded again with 220 and applied one last coat of poly. This top is so slick a fly will have trouble landing onto it. Next up is to strip the paint of the angle iron trim he had wrapping the table top he had on it and then painting it. Maybe then I will sand and paint the cart itself. More pictures later. It continues to look better and better everyday.

After several tries on my first restoration I settled on Rust-oleum Charcoal Gray with a matte clear coat finish. I found it to be the closest to the original color of the painted parts like the Miter and upper Saw Blade Guard. I use the Matte Clear Coat to dull the finish to make the cast iron parts look closer to original. I don't recall trying the paint you are using. On some of the A. O. Smith motors I have used Satin Nickel color from the same Metallic paint line as you are using. Of the motors I have gotten on the Model 10's some were originally silver while most were gray.

Today was a very productive day. The cart is now completed. The paint went on really nice and even. The metal boarder and caster assemblies came out great. I really like the contrast between all the metal and the wood. Your thoughts ? Before anyone says it, I know I forgot 1 screw to put in.
