If your Greenie Jointer is an early one it would have the early Fence Lock parts (handle, bolt, nut) as the Model 4E and those parts changed in 1955. This is one of those items that have to be changed as an assembly if the handle needs replacing. The 4E and early Model 620 fence lock is shown in the picture below.

The Quadrant is one of those parts which can be damaged easily by over tightening the locks. That strips out the threads in the quadrant casting that the external/internal threaded shaft screws into. That was the problem on my Model 4E when I got it. The good news is the Quadrant is the same for all Jointer Models from the 4E to present. The Quadrant is also one of those parts I would recommend buying new since it is hard to tell if those threads are beginning to strip out on a used one. You don't want to end up buying the same problem you are trying to correct.
