I have been using a battery powered six LED grill light. Gives enough light although it may not be enough for some. I forgot to turn it off four days (and nights) ago. Turned it off this morning still lighting the area where I was using it. Uses 4 AAAs, no additional cord in the way.

The SS light is great and it mounts with the Shopsmith brackets. A good safety accessory for it is the Stay-Put Chip Protector that goes over the end of the light to protect the bulb. Order it from Craft Supply while you're ordering wood-turning supplies, they have one of the best selections of wood-turning supplies around. http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/store ... _put?Args= It is from Craft Supply and their light is made by the same company so it fits the SS light.

BTW it won't work with a CFL because the CFL sticks out too far.
