Bad pic, would post pic but don’t know how

I would suggest that photos of both the old and new plugs, and how the three wires are connected at both ends are vital to help us understand exactly what you are working with there. That way we can see plug configurations, wiring colors, and what they are connected to at each end. Like lahola1 said, check out the post on photo uploads, and if you have problems, check back here. Once you get the hang of it it becomes easier.

Now, where did you attach the three wires?

Green to "o" hopefully.

When they do not follow the rules - they are ON THEIR OWN.

NOTE: The breaker in the breaker panel also needs to be wired according to which system (3-wire or 4-wire) is being used. The OP seems to have a hybrid - in other words is NOT following the rules.

Don't tackle this sort of job without learning the rules. Doing it wrong can lead to consequences.
