I think when I first discovered my problem I turned the shop smith off when it was at high speed. Is there a correct way to dial it back down while the machine is off. That was dumb of me.

I got it. Turned everything by hand. What an idiot. After adjusting the belt tension, everything works great! Interesting that the belt really didn’t feel that loose.

Regardless of the surmised cause, it should not do what was first described. i.e. The cause ain't yet been fixed!

Hmm, My issue and fix (tighten belt) is one of the troubleshooting issues listed in the manual. Any thoughts on possible additional problems? I cleaned and oiled my headstock. It's very clean inside for sure.

I missed the "tension adjustment" part. I was thinking(?) re the starting @ fast part.
