If this is the case then you will want to stick with the 77. I use 77 on glass lapping plates and have had some trouble with separation while wet sanding. I have used it to re-adhere a corner on one of my conical disks but haven't tested the disk yet.
My impression is that the 77 represents the minimum acceptable strength for these applications and anything weaker would disappoint. I haven't tried the 90 as I am taking Nick's warnings regarding it's permanence seriously.
That $10 can goes a *long* way.
