1600 Grit Cloth...

Kinda outta place in this thread, but I was watching a sawdust session and the dude told me to get some sort of 1600 or 1800 grit cloth from an auto parts store for shining up the tubes to make it slide better, I couldn't understand him and didn't make it out...what was the rag/cloth called again?? a million thanks..

Crocus Cloth? Scotch Brite?

Yep, that's it, I'd never heard of it before...is that true, does that work to do the job? Do you put any type of wax on it also??? or is that a no no

Crocus cloth NO. Scotch Brite Maybe. Nick suggested scotch brite and wax to dress out aluminum table surfaces. Crocus cloth on Steel tubes(dry).
