No confusion at all, Ed. I am a slow reader so it all flowed right together.

This is a great concept and I can see that it would work well with a plunge router. Since I don't have a pin router, I don't know - does it work equally well with a pin router?

You did a great job of duplication the pattern. I appreciate the computer work you put into this lesson! There is only one feature missing. Since this was a lesson, that part is really superfluous. That feature is the 4 small rectangles, I used to open up the larger solid square, above and below the lazy 'T's.

I can now see how to make the overlapping pattern in order to get these. With this overlap, I could still do it in thirds.

You know I missed that! I looked at your parts then went to my drawing program and made the drawing but never checked back against the original...

The good news is the fix is simple and even if you had made the pattern or even if you did the parts minus these openings. The pattern can be used updated then used to cut the missing openings.

As an example this is what the pattern would look like:
[ATTACH]4884[/ATTACH]

It is used as it was before except when it is used for outside parts where you don't want the cuts made. For those cases a short piece of blue masking tape can be used so you don't forget to not make the cut.
[ATTACH]4888[/ATTACH]

Of course now that I look at it I think I just got the two new parts lined up different by not using the drawing program the way it should be used. And yes the drawing is done a lot like it if it was a router pattern. One simple piece drawn then flipping it, yep a lot like was done when I was making the drawing... only I was rushing it a bit and cheated a few times in the drawing. Don't do as I do.
