Cinci, Do you have any new info on the lathes? I would think that the trailer might be easier to trace than the lathes and lead you to a return of the tools.
I don't know if you are at this point yet, but I would like to help your club get new ones if it comes to that. I can't buy much, but I'd help.

Looks like a 'golden' opportunity for SS to do some public service. If only they WERE able! Bet the club would provide transportation!

Come on guys.
Isn't it enough to simply say that we hope the perpetrators are all caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law and the the club is lawfully made whole again.
By the way, does every one recall that Rick Davis (the Traveling Acacdemy instructor) lost a bunch of his personal belongings when the Shopsmith van was burglarized. There were two Mark Vs, a DC3300 and a truck lot of SPT involved there. What did we do when that happened, anything????

That info I was just passing along. Found it on another woodworking forum.
I have nothing to do with the group it was taken from.
it was just a thought

Thanks, I thought you were involved personally. That said, I reacted to 2 things in the post. 1. I am a teacher so when I saw that they worked with education, I reacted. 2. I set on the board of a group that works with kids and we would be SOL if someone stole our trailer. Everything we have is in there and we don't insure the contents due to cost.

Perhaps 'in days gone past' amputation of the hand of a thief WAS appropriate! At least it contained a bit of prevention of FUTURE repeat offense. Not sure WHAT YOUR recommendation would prevent!
How about preventing passing on the genes of a total looser?
