Hi,

Just two comments
1) a jig saw does not equal a scroll saw
2) authenticity went out the window with hammered paint

ED: He already has two Jig saws(Mark5 and 10 versions). And he IS a stickler for 'authenticity'. He HAS been considering a different color for the 10(see his avatar?).

OK.....you guys have given me a BUNCH of great ideas to break the news to the LOML.

I'll practice making this face and then put a circle of flower petals around my head.

I'll also put an enlarged copy of the pup photo on the headstock so that when I unveil her, she sees it.

Strong possibility beeg!!! With this approach AND reibles suggestion on a custom pink and white paint scheme made especially for the wife could just possibly work. Hum&#8230]Real men aren't afraid of pink!![/B]

And if I pretend that my "Greenie I" gave birth to "Greenie II" by laying her on her side under "Greenie I" and as jpg suggested
JPG40504 wrote:It would help credibility if ya made it a MINI first! Might even make her LAUGH!
. For this, I'll need the help of SDSSmith

That&#8217]SDSSmith[/B]...I'll be over tomorrow to borrow 2 mini way tubes and 2 mini bench tubes. I'll call first.

WOW...maybe I can just pull this off. She might just know by the end of next week!!!

JPG40504 wrote:If it IS cast, tell us how well you like the access hole(under the medallion).

The 'tailstock' end is the one you mount the tailstock on when you use it as a lathe.

Add to that the 'fact' that the second/lower/higher speed output shaft is primarily for the jointer only(unless you have an air compressor also). Read the red letters around that shaft. IF your greenies are old enough, they will refer to its use for the jointer ONLY.

This will all begin to gel when and if you ever start making sawdust etc.:D

I checked the access hole from the inside. It's all covered up with metal.

tailstock......I have a new acronym for myself....IAABH!! I am a bonehead:o I knew that.

So, what is the side of the SS to the left of the headstock called? If I know the answer, I am drawing a blank. Sometimer's moment?

Here's my quick and dirty version of what a "Pinky" headstock would look like. LOMLmight just like that!!!!

I'm currently tracking two ER's with speed changers........And the ER I have is still in pieces between the basement and garage.............:o

Oh, what happened to your ER restoration?
My justification.....heck, I think it's more of my excuse.

Don't track......BUY

ER is coming along. As jpg mentioned, I had a set back due to a paint issue. A week or so ago, I was washing all the parts off to prep them them for paint. I had thought the the old paint was adhered quite well and was going to just prime and paint over it, like I did on my headstock. Well, since I had also purchased my first compressor a few days earlier, I decided to blow all the parts off after washing. When I did, small areas of paint blew off several of the pieces. That was enough for me to decide that I would strip the old orange paint prior to fresh paint. If I am going to go through all the work in this restoration, I want it to come out right. I'd kick myself from here to Timbuktu if I just ignored it and got a big chip shortly after reassembling. (You know, is that anal thing I have going on).:D Anyway, with one thing leading to another, all the parts are now mostly stripped except for small areas on a few that have paint in hard to reach places. That has lead to my quest to develop an abrasive blasting method to blast the paint off. See my other post on what's going on there.

You'll see a completed ER shortly. It's admittedly gone very slow over the summer months. I'm a faster winter restorer. Hopefully, that will be good woodworking time also.....

Come on over, the tubes are in "kit" form. BTW, while your stripping orange paint off of items I have an orange ER leg in need of stripping too. ]

No. I still have to make a mini out of her first. She hidden well. I almost forgot where she was!!

We have a $100 unilateral spending limit with each other, no approval needed. Anything over $100 requires conference. (plus begging, crying, justification, threatening, etc.) My $1200 Cannondale road bike for example..pondered for a week how to convince her.....threw it out there one evening prepared for the interrogation and without getting past my opening statement, she said "Great idea, you can pay for it with your bonus".

Since I'm under the $100, I should just break it out......but that would take away all the fun I want to have with it.
