Cremation Urns

I saw a very nice turned cremation urn with a threaded lid last year. Just like anything else, there are numerous ways of turning such a vessel, and threaded lids are becoming common in wood turning.
Check out the website below. It is meant to be "Food for Thought!" This gentleman gives you some answers to your questions, and shows one way of turning a cremation urn, and how to make a threaded lid.
Personally, I would take a different approach that is more suitable for turning on the SS. Instead of a solid piece of wood, I would make the vessel, via segmented pieces in two halfs, that eventually would get glued together.

To answer your question about the size of cremation urns, I believe the inside should be about 200 cubic centimetres. Don't ask me what this is in inches cause I haven't got a clue. For larger people, volume needs to be bigger.
I recently got plans for a six sided urn but haven't gotten around to making it yet.

Google does conversions. Just type this in at google.com and you'll get the answer
convert 200 cubic centimeters to cubic inches
