I spent some time today taking apart my 10ER. I think I now understand why my headstock & carriage are sticking. I also now know what is meant by two wedge locks. After taking off the headstock, I found that there are two wedges, one on each side of the way tube. They pinch the way tube when tightened. I believe that the inside wedge was not loosening when turning the lock handles. There was alot of built-up grease & dirt in the wedge holes. Also I see that my wedge may be worn. What do you think?

That wedge is definitely worn. If the wedges are still round, just file a flat bevel back on the wedges and they should be good. All of the wedges in both of my ER's were out of round, mashed into an oval shape. I tried squeezing them back into round, but I eventually just replaced them.

Johnson's Original paste wax is not a floor wax. Subsequent application dissolves the earlier 'residue'. i.e. It doesn't build up!

Yellow can, red stripe, The Original Formula(make sure those exact words are on the red stripe. UPC code is 46500 00202. Got my last can at Home Depot(Not in the paint Dept.!)
I got the wax and bought some springs at HD. I also expect to get some brass wedges from a member. Between all that I hope to fix this problem.

As you file the flats of the wedges, you can actually adjust the position of the handle to be in the most convenient direction.

I brought it up for discussion in a new thread, and your post here from 2010 is the only record I can find of someone purchasing brass wedges to replace aluminum ones.
