Almost a year ago when we moved onto the farm a young man popped in to introduce himself and his fledgling business. His business is to fix all sorts of farm machinery, and to do it right there where the machine broke down if possible.

So yesterday I called him and asked him if he can rewire my Goldie's stator. This morning he came out to have a look. He has taken it away to check, and will call me with a quote soon. I asked him to include for replacing the bearings as well.

If it turns out to bee too expensive to repair, I'll be looking for a replacement motor. (Bill - please watch for a PM)

I'm not sure which pulley you are referring to, and I'm also not sure if we have 50 or 60 Hz - I'll need to check that. Once I have that info, where would I find info on the correct pulley size?

Measure the diameter of the main shaft poly-v pulley. The one in the top of the headstock.

I am guessing you have 220v 50Hz and rather large 'plugs' with roughly square pins(being a former British thingie!).

I have received (hopefully) good news. I'm still away from home, but while I've been gone, the fellow I mentioned in post #21 above has been doing a lot of running around trying to get my SS motor rewound. Apparently he delivered the finished job to my wife yesterday. The total price he charged me was less than $200. When I get home I'll see if he did the bearings as well.

The forum member who helped me get spares from the USA has also sent off all the parts I bought, so I should have all I need to finish the refurbishment when I get home.

I can't wait.
