I attended the Costa Mesa, CA show with the DW back in October. It was her first time and my first in about three years. We were both sorely disappointed. IIRC, the show three years ago was more than twice the size. And I don't recall paying for parking last time; this go-around they wanted $10.
This is, of course, set by the fairground authority that was hosting the show. Funny thing is, the fairgrounds also hosts a swap meet every weekend, where they normally charge admission, but parking is free. It was a rainy weekend so swap meet admission was free. Parked for free. Entered the swap meet for free. Walked through to the wood show. Paid admission.
Thought we were getting a deal until I saw how much smaller the show was with how few vendors there were. Don't know that I'll go back, even though I do like the opportunity to pick up potential purchases prior to plopping the money down.

I just received in the mail the info on the Kansas City show. Admission is $10 and the paper (or on the net) there is a coupon for either $2 off or free admission for your spouse. Parking is free in KC, but in short supply. The ticket is expandable for multiple days for free at the show. Free demos this year at KC are cabinetmaking experience, logs to lumber, bandsaw clinic, build better furniture, router tips by Jim Heavey, cabinet restoration and finishing, and indelible inlay.

My attendance may be in doubt this year. I hope not, as I have not missed one in several years, and I look forward to them.
