General note:
I am probably as quick to reuse tired old stuff and to sometimes "make do" especially on something of rather infrequent use as anybody. Few things however are more critical in a woodshop than the mounting of jointer and planer blades and you don't ever want to get sloppy about their fitting. About the only thing maybe more critical would be mounting the old style shaper blades that had 2 separate cutters clamped between 2 special disk with notches. Those used to come apart now and then in the old cabinet shops and just talking about them could strike fear in the heart of the bravest woodworker... :rolleyes: :)
I would have no qualms about re-lubing decent bearings on a jointer but I want those blade mounting parts to be perfect.

I did not equip with Shopsmiths in spite of the setups but because of them.
