I had a similar situation with my quill setscrew, except I damaged the threads. Since this screw has no real torque on it, I plugged the hole with Belzona and re-tapped it. A bit of green loctite, and it's as good as new.
I thought of using a Helicoil - anybody try that?

Before I retired, I worked for a defense contractor. I used Helicoils there and found them to be great BUT I had access to the entire machine shop and there I found a helicoil work station equipped with all sorts of aids and special tools. I don't think I'd try it in my shop.michaeltoc wrote:I had a similar situation with my quill setscrew, except I damaged the threads. Google it. Belzona is both a brand name and a number of different products. Much too complex to detail here.JPG40504 wrote:Whazzat?

I have tried using the Seal Stic from Sealxpert Products - the quality is just as good and selling at better prices. You can check out this link: http://www.sealxpert.com/quick-cure-epoxy-sticks/
Hope this helps, cheers
