I've got a type A casting for "short money" if you end up needing it. Let me know.

I had a similar situation with my quill setscrew, except I damaged the threads. Since this screw has no real torque on it, I plugged the hole with Belzona and re-tapped it. A bit of green loctite, and it's as good as new.

I thought of using a Helicoil - anybody try that?
Michael

Mark V Model 500 (1985) upgraded to 520 (2009) and PowerPro (2011); Bandsaw, Jointer, Jigsaw, Planer.

Before I retired, I worked for a defense contractor. I used Helicoils there and found them to be great BUT I had access to the entire machine shop and there I found a helicoil work station equipped with all sorts of aids and special tools. I don't think I'd try it in my shop.

Google it. Belzona is both a brand name and a number of different products. Much too complex to detail here.

They have a very comprehensive web site.

I have tried using the Seal Stic from Sealxpert Products - the quality is just as good and selling at better prices. You can check out this link: http://www.sealxpert.com/quick-cure-epoxy-sticks/

Hope this helps, cheers
