Tis worse than I feared. I do not think 1 7/8" tubes will fit properly!!!

How about you buy a set and let us know...otherwise you could contribute to the costs for mine and I will happily do whatever experiments you want

Just measure the spacing of your 1 3/4" tubes in the new castings. I predict they are 8 1/2" ctc. That makes the ribs 10 1/4" apart. I believe a 1 7/8" tube will interfere with the ribs by 1/16".

That one measurement will 'tell the tale!' I do not need to purchase any. I have done and know how to modify existing ones!:D Then all I need do is reverse the tubes in a table(spare) and rig a motor that reverses.

P.S. I have no 1 7/8" tubes! Nor 1 7/8" castings!

Interesting realization #1 - the new base ends don't have holes drilled for the allen wrench or drill chuck key.

The motor rotation is correct at least for routing purposes. Also, using an under-table configuration might be more convenient for doing things like drum sanding.

I see a possibility of using the sanding disk as a flat surface like for some tool sharpening etc. Maybe even free-hand sanding of odd shapes?

heh, i actually did what you were thinking while quickly grinding some plastic pieces to fit. I had the shopsmith in drill press mode and just quickly threw the sanding disk on top.

Got an email back from CS stating "The upgrade does not come with the arm lock knob or the accessory mount locking handles. They are to be transferred from your original parts." I emailed them back regarding the text on their website, so hopefully this gets resolved soon.

I have to admit that while I like my shopsmith, my interactions with CS at shopsmith have been less than stellar so far.

OK the lock handles are a reasonable thing. Not including a second lock screw is chinzy. JMHO

I would guess that Dave handled the email response. I would call and speak with Jan (or Linda) and share the website information. I would be darned surprised if you did not get something. If Dave answers, you know what to do.]
