Ah but it is accurate right out of the box. The shims that have been discussed here have nothing at all to do with miter accuracy. It is the vertical face of the fence that was adjusted.
For me the V120 excels because the angle can be changed almost instantly without losing accuracy.
The Shopsmith miter gauge can be made just as accurate but not near as easily. After futzing with the Shopsmith miter gauge, if one needs to change angles again the user must futz with the angle again.
If the decision is to use a Shopsmith miter gauge, I would very strongly recommend something like the Wixey.
Don't forget the "Miter Set" ( http://www.miterset.cm ). It works well also.
