Silly question, but is it the tube striking the baseplate that is stopping the tilt? In which case, just slide the tubes a little to the left in the pivot mount. Or maybe that's only on an ER--never owned any other model.

Tubes are embedded in the Base arm assembly. See post #15, this thread.

Okay, got it. I like my 10ER more every day. Although I have considered buying a newer model as a companion just to run the newer equipment: bandsaw, etc.

I have a spare base/ base arm assembly and a spare headrest. I set those up on the work bench using two short pieces of conduit (emt). In this test configuration, the base arm tilts to 90.1 degrees so if I needed to I could shim back to exactly 90 degrees very easily.

What will this buy me that is not available without the shims.

When in the horizontal position, the tubes are off and they are not the same but I think this could be corrected by locking the end pieces to the tubes while using either a set up jig or very tedious adjust and tighten - readjust and tighten routine. Don't think it is worth the effort.
