fiatben, have you checked the Old Woodworking Machines web site? When I was restoring an old Craftsman jointer, I could not find the manual for my exact model number there, but I found one that was VERY close to mine (I'm actually not sure what was different about the jointer, but it did have a different model number). Since it was a different model number, it took some time looking through each of the jointer manuals until I found a match.

It occurred to me today (OK, so I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed) that I probably should replace the belt while I'm replacing the driveshaft bearings and fixing up this old saw. While looking online for a belt, I came up with a question for here.
The goal in any saw is to eliminate vibration. With that in mind, how much difference is there in v-belts and what would you recommend?

I think the answer is link-belt for vibration.
Not sure
belt vibration is a problem though. Blade, workpiece, yes.

Mcfeelys has the best price on power twist link belts that I have found recently:

Harbor Freight probably has them cheaper, but I have heard it said that the Harbor Freight link belts are made of a harder/less pliable material than the rest, and can cause more wear than is necessary on aluminum pulleys. Of course, if your saw has steel pulleys (unlike the Shopsmith) then it won't make a difference.
I have never tried the Harbor Freight link belts, that is only what I have read elsewhere on this forum. Your mileage may vary...
