In researching what a chevalet might be, I found this:

Love my thickness sander, I will send you a pic in the near future. I am going to make it a stand along unit as I hate tying up my shopsmith and too lazy to take it off and on.

Yes, That's a chevalet all right. I am just today finishing up an intensive (40 hr.) one week course at the American School of French Marquetry in San Diego. The instructor, Patrick Edwards is an amazing artist with the chevalet. He was trained at the Ecole Boulle in France and working one on one with him has been a fantastic experience. I will improve.
