It is sitting on a regular cement patio block. This insulates the table from the heat of the egg. I might try to find something nicer, but this will do for now.

The hole in the tabletop is also cut to provide about 1/2" clearance around the egg for the same reason. This helps to prevent any scorching or fires.

Wow, that looks amazing. Nice job on the table. I had never heard of the BGE's. How do you like yours so far? Could you give us a quick review? Is it worth the price in your opinion?

After doing a little looking at what they say a BGE can do, you may have just given me the grill to put at the top of my grill/smoker wishlist!
tdubnik wrote:Finished up two tables recently for my son and myself. My wife and son gave my large Egg for Christmas and after my son tasted some of the food coming off the egg he decided he had to have one too. So now we are a two Egg family and if I build something for mine I also have to make one for him too.

So here are the tables. They are made from cypress finished with 4 coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane. The working surface is solid granite with wood edging. Hanging hooks on the left and a handle/towel holder on the right. The drawer holds most of my eggsessories so far.

The wooden part of the top and the shelf are built solid with no gaps. I did this to keep water and dirt out of the drawer. I attached the top and shelf so they could move a little without splitting as the humidity and temperature changes.

How many of those 440 were 'Music' students?;)

Well the choir had about 30 seniors this year and I believe there were around 100 seniors in the band. And about 20 - 40 in the orchestra. My daughter was in Choir.

So some where around 150 - 170 of them were in music programs of some kind.

The Egg is an amazing grill. You can slow cook pork butts or ribs at 225 degrees all day on one fill of charcoal and it holds temperature very well. I have also cooked homemade pizzas at 750 degrees and they only take 6 to 8 minutes.

There is a learning curve to using this grill but it goes pretty fast if you are good with other charcoal grills. The main thing is to slowly get up to your desired temperature because if you overshoot, it takes a while for it to come back down.

It is definitely worth the money if you do a lot of grilling. I use mine 4 to 5 times a week. Prior to the Egg I used a Weber charcoal grill but since I got this one, I have given both of my Webers away.
