Well since I can remember riding down to Papa's with Dad to pick it up when I was 5 (1970). I still remember getting some dust in my eye and a scratched cornea as I was riding with the unit in the back of our station wagon. I had to wear an eye patch for weeks. I wasn't allowed to use until I was 10 or 11. That would make it 42 years I have been around this very same SS. and 32 or so years I have used it Pretty cool huh??:D

Papa bought it new in 1955.

The machine came in to my full time possession in 2001 once I finally bought a house and settled down.

Although I am a youngster at 50, dad has used his Mark 5 to finish the inside of 3 houses in the 30 years or so that he has had his, and he is 81. He may have come to this forum as a guest in the past...so he may qualify.

39 and thinking about getting a new mark 7.. Nothing but 18v cordless tools and two saw horses (and a car) in my small 1.5 car garage right now.

You're off to a great start. A Shopsmith will fit in the .5 garage nicely.

I think it is great to see so many younger folks here taking up this art and developing skill and talent. Me, I'm now 64 and didn't get any real woodworking tools until I was 60. Boy, this ride is fun. Well, did have a finishing carpenter saw, claw hammer, hand mitre saw, handheld sabre saw and electric circle saw. But, I was able to do some pretty neat stuff with those. With the Shopsmith, I've been able to do most of my imaginations. Made this for the man who gave me the shop on rails.

Made a mistake on the stain, but he's happy. And, I cut this all on the bandsaw.

So I did it...

Ordered a new mark 7 today after Doug Reid's webinar today.

Should be interesting to see how long it takes to arrive.
