I want to find out who is right. Is it a 1990 or a 1979?

As I mentioned above I believe it is a 1990 due to:
- the sticker for the serial
- the date matching the date code format
- the extra 0 at the begining which would make it 6 digits not 5 like 1979 machines.

Any more pictures OP?

I totally agree and lacking any more photos to give me a reason to think otherwise, I'm 100% sure it's a '90 machine for the reasons you stated.

so i was able to clean it up a little. the PO apparently got alot of over spray all over this thing. what is the best way to try and get the over spray off without taking off the original paint. Don't want to do that just yet.

Believe Goof Off! make a paint remover. You might also find something used for graffiti that would work. I'm sure someone else may have better ideas. I used Goof Off! to remove paint from my wood floor when some dried on it.

You want the paint remover, not the sticker/decal stuff. Very strong smelling, so don't use indoors, which was my problem, and my wife was pregnant and it was the middle of winter too.

Looking at the photos - it makes sense - the differences between it an my late '78 model are main table with only one cutout, wider extension table (this could have been bought by the PO as an upgrade), the legs are more squared off, the caster mechanism looks different, and the end support that connects to the bench and way tubes and holds the extension table looks slightly different. I suppose if you disected it you could also tell as it should have the two-bearing quill.
