I don't think the safety grip was a standard item back then (?) - my '78 didn't come with one when it was bought new. Easy item to find on E-Bay however and definitely a worthwhile upgrade. Rip fences are readily available there as well. Don't forget you'll need the upper and lower saw guards as well - the upgraded ones are a lot nicer than the original all metal ones...I'm assuming the upgraded one will fit this era machine as well.

Most 'stuff' will!

The saw guard(s) and the safety grip were extra cost options. All the other stuff in Ed's post is appropriate.

The 'newer' guards will require drilling/tapping holes in the trunion.


FWIW, those sellers on e-bay are quite often wro....mis-informed.

Other "catalogs" are also available via download as pdf's and that can also help as somethings have the models shown and the ones that will not work are "/" ed.

For all intents/purposes, you have a 500.

He is a member here, ddvann79. I haven't seen any recent posts by him but here is a link to the thread documenting his Mk5 Goldie restoration.
