"Tapped" probably wasn't the right word. I had to hammer it pretty hard. I have some old craftsman allen wrenches with T handles. They take a beating. 7/64 seems to be the perfect size to knock out the roll pins on the carriage lock and headstock lock handles. Not the best choice of tool, obviously, but I don't have a good hardware store in my area.

I'm pleased to report that I used the 1/8" Harbor Freight pin punch (from $7 set I linked above) this morning and it drove out the old pin from my carriage lock handle flawlessly. The old pin looks fine and should be easy to reuse.

Having completely botched the removal of one of these once before, there's a great feeling in having the right tool to take care of job quickly and easily. Thanks for everyone's input.

Having the right tool and success is great. The feeling of a new tool in the box is rather special as well. Jim
