Good deal in Houston

I don't have a Shopsmith jointer, but I do have an old Delta jointer, so it's not like I really need it if you want to hang on to it for someone else in greater need. I'd like to have a Shopsmith jointer, but don't need it.

Ok, what else can go wrong. As I was going to get the SS 510 For Josh a kid rear ended me at a stop sign. I can't get my tailgate down. I had to return home last night and schedule the pickup for Sunday when Josh will be driving down. I just went out to open up the garage to work on my new scroll saw and the garage door spring broke. The wife's car is still in garage and she doesn't know how to drive my Prius or stick shift PU. Have you ever tried to open a double garage door without the spring attached
Called garage door repairman and he's on the way out with a new spring. Isn't 24 hour service great
I'm really thinking about staying bed tomorrow instead of going to work, this just isn't my week.

The last time I got rear-ended, I was sitting at a dead stop, middle lane of a traffic-jammed 3-lane freeway. The rear-ender turned out to be an off-duty deputy sheriff. I was driving a one-year old car, which was suddenly 6" shorter.fredsheldon wrote:Ok, what else can go wrong. As I was going to get the SS 510 For Josh a kid rear ended me at a stop sign. The deputy apologized profusely, and I assured her that life would go on just fine. And then she started feeling guilty about trashing the front bumper of her brand-new Jeep Liberty. It turned out that the Jeep was only one WEEK old. Punch line: The jeep had just replaced her previous vehicle, which she had totalled the week before. Y'all drive safe now, y'hear!
And that was the third time that I had been rear-ended while at a dead stop. First time, I was maybe 17 years old.
And don't even get me started on the time that the Coast Guard Auxiliary almost swamped my little outboard boat right after giving me a safety warning ...

510 Has found a new home.
Josh assured me he could get this 510 in his Camry. See below to see if he was successful.

One of the way tubes was stuck so that's the way it went into the car. Thank goodness for fold down seats.

He did it. I tested the motor and it works great, the seller just had the speed turned all the way up and it keep kicking the breaker. Now to drop off the jointer in Lake Charles for Heath in May.

Well I got it all home ok last night! It's a hodge-podge (I really have no idea if that's spelled right
) but its perfect for what I needed. The legs are from a greenie, ONE of the way tubes is thicker than the others (see picture 3 from Fred above), the rip fence has a corner broken off, the 510 tables are in fairly decent shape, no telescoping legs, the headstock is from 1985-1986.
In a hurry to get there I didn't bring anything to protect my trunk so Fred gave me a huge sheet of plastic.
Thank you Fred for everything. I have been watching the tables on EBay and with your help I got them half priced plus everything else for free!
As soon as I am done restoring the 505 I inherited from my Dad I'll start a thread with pictures. I have it primed and waiting for paint right now. Hopefully can get it back together soon

I think I forgot to say it, so THANK YOU!!joshh wrote:AND heathicus got a Shopsmith jointer.
That's fine by me. I think I actually enjoy restoring machines as much I enjoy woodworking itself.joshh wrote:Of course, he will pay for it with sweat equity

Since it has greenie base parts, check the od of the tubes. The greenie BENCH tubes s/b 1 7/8" od. The way tubes s/b 1 3/4" od. The way tubes s/b 52" long. The bench tubes s/b 52 3/4" long.

Could the thicker tube be from a 10ER?
