Thanks JPG40504. I really appreciate you keeping track of my posts and filling in more details when I post responses. Many times, actions that are second nature to me may not get covered in some of my responses. I am trying to do the "Paul Harvey" type responses lately but can still be missing some important details. My memory is slowly disappearing now so I really do need this additional attention. 90% of the material in my responses are from my thousands of computer files and pictures that I had saved in recent years. My poor naming of some of these files and pictures makes collection information together on a specific subject difficult for me at times. Thanks.

I was not aware of the NEMA color codes. Do you recall where in the NEMA 'library' that info exists? Much I have not understood may become clearer with that info.

Is there any difference in the color of insulating spray?

Grainger sells clear, red, and green but only regularly stocks red and green. The clear is more expensive also.

I started with a toggle switch but I prefer the rocker switch look anyway. I'm thinking about milling out the on/off switch and making it a rocker switch also. I probably won't though...

What do y'all think? Red or black logo on the speed dial to offset the polished shopsmith lettering?

Beautiful work. I know that took more than a few minutes to add the FWD/REV switch positions in the headstock casing. I like both the toggle and rocker switch looks and locations. I went with moving the FWD/REV switch to the motor pan for several reasons. A couple minutes to drill the 1/2" hole 2" down and 4" from the motor pan back edge for the FWD/REV switch. I only have to attach the ON/OFF switch when I mount the motor pan. I am able to test the operation of the motor and the FWD/REV and ON/OFF switches when the motor is attached in the motor pan and before mounting on the headstock casing.

Funny, I'm doing the exact opposite with all the wiring in the headstock. The motor & pan are removed with 1 ground screw on the motor case and a bundle if 4 fully insulated quick connect terminals.

When I make the new 12 gauge power cord, I'll post updated pictures with all the secured wiring inside.

Since I could not organize a road trip to Texas I shipped the motor. I think I have protected it quite well in a almost made to fit expanded poly container and cardboard box plus other stuff.

I took an insurance for $1500 in case it gets lost I can replace it with a power pro.....

If all works well I am planning in installing it in my latest machine (see under "lucky strike" in Community). The motor in that machine dated 1998 is actually assembled in Mexico, an Emerson.

The shipped unit is AO Smith, made in ol USA.
