The biggest mistake was made by the person I outsourced the painting to. When putting the last coat of paint on the drawer faces, she dropped her paintbrush on the carpet. You can see the black spot in front of the far left drawers. But I'm not complaining! Otherwise, my mistakes were relatively minor - like cutting the groove for the divider on the wrong side of the drawer bottom (I had wanted the "good" side of the plywood facing up, but now it's down).
The next cabinet I make, I think I'm going to approach it the same way. Face frame first. It seemed weird to me as I was researching cabinet building, but it worked great. It's easy to make a square face frame. Then build off of that and everything else will be square.

Incidentally, here is the previous comic book storage that was replaced with this cabinet.
I had 10 of these (only 8 pictured) under our bed. We had to put the bed on risers to fit them under there and since we got a new thicker mattress the bed was just way too high. So they needed to move and I needed better storage. Although these are "high-end" cardboard comic storage boxes, they are still cardboard boxes. Not very pleasing to look at!
Now I just need to get rid of these boxes. They cost me too much (about $15 each) to just toss them out!
