JPG, the speeds 0-5 are the same on both models. The missing 6 to 8, is because of that step. (The belt can't go in as far.)

Steve, if I got it right on the 0-5 and the 0-8, the low speed rpm is the same, and on the other end 5 is the same RPM as 8? If so, what was the difference? A more minute speed adjustment, or just a different scale?

Bob, on the 0-5 and the 0-8 the 0-5 speeds are the same. The 6-8 will give you a higher speed, at the cost of a weaker center sheave.

RPG, I don't know the extra speed range. But, on the low speed belt setting, the upper speeds will be duplicated on the low speed end of the high speed belt setting. (On one belt setting, the left belt goes to the motor, and the right belt goes to the headstock. On the other setting the left belt goes to the headstock, and the other one goes down to the motor. No, I don't remember which, so don't ask. ) I've been running a DC "Skip" conversion motor for too long, I can't remember.

By the way, Bob, your NEXT purchase NEEDS to be one of those DC motor conversions. Best addition EVER, to the Model 10, by far!

Steve, I know, got paper routes lined up for the youngens, I get 1/3rd!!! My first one at 13, 1965, made 7.50$ a week with tips, fat a sassy!!! Bought a HiFi record player with the next 2 weeks worth. What is with it with kids now a days?? My oldest, now 43, a CFO of a bank company in FL, lives in Jupiter FL, at 14, cutting grass for me, 3 neighbors and some baby sitting had $50.00 a week!! Naturally had to save 2/3rds, had more pocket money then me with a second house, over mortgaged, but looking into the future worth, an other youngen, and my hobbies, wiffy worked PT and took the edge off. #2 had a egg route in the subdivision with our chicken layers, pissed off the neighbors, but no roister to crow!!

The '10' pulleys have three steps each.

The motor run about 1750 rpm.

There are three 'normal' belt positions.

Motor small, headstock large = 1750/2 rpm.

Motor medium, headstock medium = 1750 rpm.

Motor large, headstock small = 1750 x 2 rpm.

So ya gots three speeds - 875, 1750, 3500 rpm.
I have one of the ERs set to the lowest pulley, rpm, setting without the speed changer on yet. I changed belts and bearings on my greenie this spring, I have still not done a speed calibration on it, busy. BUT the ER turns at a much lower rpm as I have it set then my greenie at the lowest setting that I feel comfortable turning the speed changer to. I think I have read a MV at low speed is about 700 rpm too, as 1750/2 on the ER. Am I wrong here? Or is the greenie in need of a speed calibration?

I got the new GY belts at a supply house near me, $5.50 each. Adjusting the out, "fixed" sheaves by trial and error, moved them in 3/32nds each and still not enough, dropped the motor last night and ripped out the switch.

Next time raise to vertical prior to tweaking the motor 'height'.
