The stuff inside the brackets is a function. It tells the forum software what to do. By throwing something in there, it changes it from a function to just text.rbursek wrote:skou wrote: A test, still dont understand about the *
There are numerous functions that this forum software uses, and they are listed at the top of a response (reply to thread) page.
Fonts.[FONT*="Comic Sans MS"][/FONT*] My mother's favorite font.
Sizes[SIZE%="7"][/SIZE%] HI
Colors[COLOR@="Blue"][/COLOR$] Beeg
And, a bunch more.
If you notice, I corrupted the function in the first example, and used it in the second example. I also used different symbols to corrupt them.

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.
Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

Skuo,
I dont feel put down. On the last one that I did that said a test, I copied/highlighted the quoted verbiage then hit the quote tag in the lower right corner. Is that correct?

You don't even need to go that far. Just hit the quote button, and you should be OK. That is what I just did.rbursek wrote:Skuo,

Okay got that, but what if you only want to quote a sentence in a paraghraph? Just high light that sentence then hit the quote tag?

I just hit the quote button, and delete what I don't want. (Highlight, and hit delete.)rbursek wrote:Okay got that, but what if you only want to quote a sentence in a paraghraph? Just high light that sentence then hit the quote tag?

Guys, sorry for the hijack, but I think I'm helping someone (and, maybe a few others) out.
Bob, maybe we should have started another thread.

All right, got it all, and figured out the confusion!!!! First when I sometimes wanted to "quote" something, just a sentence or 2 in a paragraph I just copied and pasted it, I was not hitting the quote tag and deleting what I did not want to quote.
2nd, Most of the time I have a problem trying to figure out JPGs form of explaining something!!!!!!!!. No slight to him, I have a problem with a lot of his verbiage and abbreviations.
Thanks for your patients, and as a mentor used to say, " if you explained it 3 times and they still did not get it, you got to explain it a different way so they can get it".
