I got the quill spring housing and depth stop dial polished today. Now I can finish putting the headstock together.

I got some of the motor parts blasted and painted. Next will be the stator housing.

OK, I finally got the motor stator blasted and ready for paint. In the mean time I have been blasting the metal bench ends and painting them. They are not done yet. The motor stator looks almost new inside.

The speed changer is done with new bushings thanks to Skip Campbell. I have one metal bench leg to put the final paint on and the motor stator to prime and paint and then it is assembly time. Oh, I have to paint the bench leg braces and polish the main and aux tables.
I need to decide what wood I am going to use for the bench top. I am leaning towards 6/4 Popular for this one.

The two springs on the control crank appear to be different. ?????

Do you mean that they appear to be made from different diameter wire? I agree that in the picture it looks that way. In the second and third pictures above it looks like the outside spring is made from a larger diameter wire. In the picture below of the same speed changer it appears that the inside spring is made from larger wire.
When seen in person they actually both look the same. The un-refurbished one looks the same in the picture and in person. Notice the un-refurbished one has the adjustment rod installed on the wrong side.
The second picture below is of a speed changer I bought from eBay. It definitely looks like the inside spring is made from larger wire and it looks that way in person.
