Right on, Ed! I aligned my Mark V right after the move from Texas. It's been that way for 14 years now.

To put into perspective the effect of a not perfectly positioned wixey used to set table angle, set the table to 45°. place the wixey on the table at a right angle to the quill axis(parallel to the miter gauge face or against rip fence)
Now rotate the wixey say 5 degrees. Visually that mis-alignment is obvious.
Now read the wixey indication.
